PROJECT: "Sant Joan de Déu-Barcelona Children’s Hospital"

ROSA CLOTET is an architect by ETSAB (School of Architecture of Barcelona), and interior and industrial designer by ELISAVA (University Autònoma of Barcelona). She worked at the Urban Projects Services to the City Council, for 7 years 1980/1987. She has collaborated with architects such as Ramon Sanàbria, Ada Llorens, Ramon Serra and Gabriel Mora. With LCA studio they collaborated with architect such as Josep Lluís Canosa, Mora – Sanvicens, Espinet – Ubach, Jordi Ros, Solinas-Verd architects, MAGMA and Terradas architects. She currently teaches at the School of Interior Design EINA (University Autònoma of Barcelona) since 2003. It is part of the Court of PFC (final project) 2006 and 2011.
Hospital Infantil de Sant Joan de Deu presented at GIS Krakow
Hospital Infantil de Sant Joan de Deu, the project awarded in 2014 with Interior Design Magazine – Best of Year Award in Healthcare, will be presented at GIS Krakow by architect Rosa Clotet.
Sant Joan de Déu-Barcelona Children’s Hospital is one of the leading medical centers in Europe for childhood and adolescence and offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to health care from birth through 21 years of age. As the pediatric center of the University of Barcelona is associated with the Clinic Hospital being the hospital alliance most well-known in Spain and one of the international references for highly specialized hospital care, teaching and research.
Currently is attending annually more than 25.000 inpatient admissions, 200.000 outpatient visits and 115.000 emergencies. The hospital performs each year more than 14.000 surgical procedures and is attending around 4.000 births.
Sant Joan de Déu-Barcelona Children’s Hospital is a center of Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God network all over the world open to everyone that needs health care. The Brothers of Saint John of God are working in 50 countries in all continents, with 40.000 professionals, 1.231 brothers and more than 300.000 donors.
A center of excellence that ensures accessibility and proximity activity at the same time distinguished by its expertise and ability to research and teaching.
LLONGUERAS CLOTET ARCHITECTS, founded in 1985, has worked in the public health system, local government, and the Barcelona city council, as well as giving lectures on architecture at the local university.
Currently, their architectural services are mainly dedicated to the public sector, housing, refurbishments, education and public spaces, with a special emphasis on enhancing environments for healthcare. They were awarded the 1st Prize AVS 2008 (Spanish Association of Public Sector Developers for Housing and Land) for the best sustainable project for public housing in Spain. Furthermore, they were selected for the World Congress of Sustainable Architecture „SUSTAINABLE BUILDING 2008” in Melbourne, Australia in September 2008, and participated as speakers at conferences organized by Grupo Via „Energy and sustainable architecture” in February 2010. They were included in the guide „The Little Green Book” in 2009. Their latest accolade was 1st prize at the Piscina Barcelona 2013 Awards for innovation and sustainability.
